Conventionally, men have dominated the job market, especially in certain fields. However, we have seen women change that in recent times. There are many more men holding executive positions than women. That doesn’t mean that there is no place for women. The positions are not entirely meant for and in that case, women can still fight for them and equally get to occupy them just like their male counterparts! How can women make a career in the male-dominated industry…? Here are important things to know!
It is a matter of confidence. Use your voice effectively when communicating the value, you are bringing on the table. Persuading your employer can easily be done by being assertive based on your experience and skills you have earned over the years. For that reason, you need to take a pro-active approach and enumerate key attributes, experiences and skills that make you the best candidate that your would-be employer is looking for.
In preparation for this, get started by sharing personal experiences with other people. Make your career experience unique because it actually is since your life can’t be a replica of someone else. Be proud of your achievements as you put them across with a key emphasis on the value of the opinion you are presenting.
Start engaging and being part of the director’s board. Work among them by taking a seat at the top. Directors bring together their skills, experience and knowledge to run companies effectively. Know how to lead people if you want to get to sit on a board. Anyone can take up these positions regardless of whether they are male or female. Your proactive nature and ability to engage will make all the difference. All you need to get there is to understand yourself and the role you play.
